Why should I practice pregnancy yoga?
As well as the positive physical, emotional and mental benefits, pregnancy yoga classes offer a time for pregnant women to be with other pregnant women, to celebrate their pregnancy and tune in to their experience of pregnancy.
What kind of pregnancy yoga is it?
The tradition of pregnancy yoga I teach is a nourishing practice designed to make the pregnant women comfortable during their pregnancy, and to prepare both mother and baby for birth and beyond.
On a physical level - we combine breath work with more free flowing softer movements to
- build energy and strength for pregnancy, birth and beyond
- release tension
- promote an awareness of the pregnant body
- and improve posture to encourage optimal fetal positioning
On an emotional and mental level – we use positive visualisations and deep relaxation techniques to promote a sense of calmness and acceptance about pregnancy and birth, and much needed rest and rejuvenation.
